For her 2026 solo exhibition at the gallery, Anne-Laure Zevi will present a new series of works on paper combining lithography, pencil and ink. Shaped by her practice as a writer and storyteller, the works explore the psychological tensions of the human experience, depicting transient landscapes where reality feels suspended.
Drawing imaginary plants, ethereal environments and spectral bodies, Zevi masterfully balances figuration with playful dreamlike imagery. Each work begins with a guiding intention: to record a particular sensation, tracing its texture, atmosphere and emotional resonance through the act of drawing. The resulting works evoke a sense of familiarity while resisting fixed interpretations, inviting viewers to form their own narratives and associations within Zevi’s ambiguous compositions, where distinctions between time and place remain deliberately unresolved.
Though not a linear narrative, Zevi's drawings converge through recurring motifs and forms. Long-eared dogs, twisting botanical organisms, dynamic female bodies and fairgrounds reappear throughout the series, creating interconnected narratives that emerge through association rather than chronological progression. This sense of continuity is further echoed in her creative process, as the lithographic plates are reconfigured in varying orientations and individually reworked with pencil and ink. These interventions create visual resonances that bind the drawings together while allowing each composition to evolve independently.
