A selection of new paintings and monoprints by Suzy Murphy made during her travels to the Bahamian retreat, Harbour Island. The works alternately convey senses of peace and isolation, remoteness, and the exoticism of adventure and the unknown. Nature is overwhelmingly present, surrounding delicate depictions of human dwellings, boats and cars, which are often dwarfed by, or partially hidden within, the untameable, fertile landscape.
Murphy keeps extensive visual diaries of her trips, translating these miniature oils and charcoal sketches into finished works once back in her London studio.
