'It’s that time of year when London gets taken over by beautiful gardens. Chelsea Flower Show is coming up, with numerous other floral displays running alongside it, including the Mayfair Flower Show and Belgravia In Bloom. As part of this city-wide celebration, jeweller Tessa Packard and gallerist Lyndsey Ingram have created Somewhere in the Enchanted Garden: a 10-day programme of events, interactive workshops and talks designed to highlight the beauty and importance of nature.
On the opening night, Lyndsey’s Mayfair gallery will showcase a black and white garden mural across its walls, inspired by the landscaped gardens of Capability Brown, and the literature of Lewis Carroll, Philip Pullman and Frances Hodgson Burnett. The USP? It’s interactive. In the middle of the gallery will sit parked wheelbarrows containing hundreds of silk plants, flowers and animal cut-outs, waiting to be placed on the mural by visitors.
Other events in the series include print-making workshops, a nature-themed pub quiz, artist talks and a behind the scenes tour of the British Museum’s most celebrated botanical and garden works on paper. A variety of artworks will also be on show across both Tessa and Lyndsey’s spaces, including work from Tessa’s Once Upon a Time in My Secret Garden collection.
Following the 10-day celebration, the garden at the Lyndsey Ingram gallery will be taken down and re-installed in the play room at the Honeypot House in Hampshire, a children’s charitable home which provides ongoing support for young carers and vulnerable children. Here, Tessa and Lyndsey hope the exercise of ‘growing’ the garden will be an inspiring and calming activity for the children there.'
