This exhibition of Sarah Graham’s most recent work comprised both coloured ink and monochrome graphite drawings on the theme of the tropical Medinilla flower, the subject of Graham’s focus over the past year. The drawings in this exhibition mark an important shift, as it is the first time that she has devoted an entire show to a single subject.
Graham has approached the plant from every perspective, depicting its larger-than-life organic forms across several sheets of handmade paper. The work she has created is very much like the Medinilla magnifica itself – bold, strangely mysterious and undeniably beautiful.
