‘My Favourite Colour is Rainbow’ was a group show investigating the technical complexity and creative possibilities presented by printmaking with colour. The exhibition included graphic work exploring the colour spectrum by contemporary artists Polly Apfelbaum, Damien Hirst, Peter Doig, Anish Kapoor, Ian Davenport, Olaf Nicolai, John Giorno and Mel Bochner.
I probably discovered the most fundamentally important thing in any kind of art. Which is the harmony of where colour can exist on its own, interacting with other colours in a perfect format… – Damien Hirst
I am very interested in color systems and still use them as direct references… At Durham Press it is often the case that we prepare a large palette of colors on the inking tables, and I select the colored blocks and place them in an improvisational fashion – Polly Apfelbaum
