The photographer is currently showing his collaborations with three artists Harland Miller, Maurizio Cattelan and Gilbert & George in London, images all created for Numéro.

 With the exhibition (after), Miles Aldridge goes back to his collaborations with contemporary artists Harland Miller, Maurizio Cattelan and Gilbert & George which first appeared in the pages of Numéro magazine. The British photographer delivers his interpretation of these artists’ work in surreal mise-en-scenes.

Known for his love of tangy colours and his part-Hitchcockian part-psychedelic atmospheres, the photographer who this year was responsible for this year’s cover of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People, proposes here three variations of his work according to the artist he is paying tribute to. “I responded to these three different artists not only visually, but also textually by using different methods to create quite distinct impressions,” explained the photographer.

Thus for the fashion shoot that took place at Maurizio Cattelan’s show in the Monnaie de Paris, the shiny paper gives an almost artificial aspect to the statues. The images from the series inspired by Harland Miller on the other hand evoke the aesthetic of 1960s and 70s newspapers, while the series dedicated to Gilbert & George uses the photoengraving technique.
